Developers and institutional investors are teaming up to build mixed-use projects near major hospitals in Vancouver, so health-care workers can live nearby and avoid long commutes.
Two projects in Vancouver — construction has started on one, another starts in the fall — are being touted as the first in the city to consider the needs of health-care employees in a way that benefits all residents.
“One of the biggest challenges we face in Vancouver is finding homes for people we rely on to look after us in the event of illness,” said Brent Sawchyn, CEO of PC Urban Properties Corp.
