It’s called ‘the gateway’. The new rental apartment complex in Esquimalt is a bright new addition to the bustling seaside urban municipality.
Contributing 198 units (across two buildings at 852 and 854 Esquimalt Road) to the local housing stock of Esquimalt (one of the 13 municipalities within Greater Victoria), completion of the gateway was officially celebrated on a dry warmish April 30 under a bright sky graced by sweeping clouds.
With a backdrop of ocean and mountain views from the rooftop at 854 Esquimalt Road (challenged by some significant construction noise from across the street), key business leaders for this project addressed about 50 guests including the development, construction, financing and rental teams, the local mayor, and media.
Business speakers were PC Urban Properties Corp COO Steve Forrest; Will Secnick, Senior Management Director and Fund Manager, Fiera Real Estate; and Reed Kipp, CEO of Devon Properties.
Remarks were also delivered by Esquimalt Mayor Barb Desjardins and also Carey Newman who was commissioned to create a public art piece for installation at the front of the building.
That was followed by a ribbon-cutting at street level and a photo-op at the art installation to the right of the front building.
