J. Brent Sawchyn

Principal / CEO

Brent never has a bad day – well almost never. He thrives on the types of creative project challenges that make other people crazy. Re-imagining and communicating bold development visions is Brent’s passion, fuelled by success. For Brent, “impossible” is not a fact, merely an opinion.

Bob Cabral

Chief Operating Officer

Bob has over 18 years of experience in the real estate industry spanning residential, industrial and the commercial asset classes. While Bob enjoys seeking the next great business development opportunity, he believes his strongest suit is his ability to lead a team in execution. He believes that execution is paramount to success at PC Urban for all of our partners, and looks forward to increasing our productivity further as we take on more complex projects.


Bob’s wealth of experience across many asset types has taken him to all major geographic markets in Canada and some core markets in the US. As a member of the Leadership Team, Bob will be adding his multidisciplinary experience across real estate investment/finance, operations, and business development to PC Urban.

Bob serves as a Board Director for British Pacific Properties and prior to embarking on his real estate career, graduated from the HBA and MBA programs at the Richard Ivey Business School, University of Western Ontario.

Shawn Smith

Chief Financial Officer

Delivering great projects is a given.  Shawn believes that PC Urban should be best in class in all aspects of development. The goal each day is to take these strengths and incrementally work to improve all aspects of what we do as a team. These daily incremental improvements lead to large changes and learning over time.  This includes excellence in relations with investors, tenants, home buyers, suppliers, professional consultants, and employees.

Treating each of these stakeholder groups with respect, professionalism, honesty, and integrity will lead to long term growth and success for all.

Shawn also enjoys spending time with his wife, Marion, sons, Mitchell and Jeff.  They enjoy hiking, skiing, boating, and travelling.

Robert Cadez

Director, Development

Discovering he had a passion for design at a young age, Robert found himself drawn to architecture and building. He spent the early part of his career in an architecture firm learning the importance of good design and planning, and then moved on to real estate development where he could be a part of the entire creative process. Robert has always operated under the mantra that regardless of what you are doing it should always be well designed and constructed.

Dan Cupa

Director, Development

Dan is drawn to all things urban. Equipped with a master’s in urban studies (SFU) and diploma in urban land economics (UBC), Dan has been busy tackling and delivering a variety of complex projects over the last decade. First with Thomas Consultants, a firm specializing in retail development with a global reach. Next with Ivanhoe Cambridge, a large Canadian-based pension fund. Dan brings a unique energy to the Re-Imagining team.

Brian Kozak

Development Associate

Brian Kozak joins the PC Urban Team in an advisory role as our Development Associate. Brian has wonderful real estate savvy across Western Canada in a number of asset classes and is particularly adept at simply “getting things done.” Previously, Brian was the Executive Vice President to First Capital Realty, one of the largest owners of retail shopping centres in Canada and prior to this role served as the Western Vice President, Canadian Tire Real Estate Limited. Brian has guided the acquisition and development of over $4.0b of real estate.


Louise Tagulao

Director, Creative Marketing and Communications

Louise has a passion for Urban Life. Buildings, people, community and how they can most successfully interact drive her thought process behind each project opportunity. Urban revitalization is a particular area of focus stemming from a background in history and a belief that old truly can become new again. A people connector at heart, Louise enjoys the challenging front end of planning, approvals and marketing of real estate.

When not re-imagining a neighbourhood, Louise loves to run through them while training for her next half marathon or ski high above them on our local mountains.

John Reid

Senior Development Manager

John has been interested in city building from a young age.  He has a passion for creating spaces where people can live, work and play in our communities.  Not afraid to get into the details of the planning process, with a Masters in Urban Planning from LSE, John also enjoys strategically reviewing new acquisitions, and envisioning new developments.

On the weekends, John enjoys time in the mountains skiing, biking and hiking.

Shawn Oh

Development Manager

Shawn has a strong desire to promote positive community and economic growth in our neighborhoods. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a master’s degree in real estate from Georgetown University, he is excited by the possibilities a new project holds.

When not poring over the details of a spreadsheet or assembling permit applications he can often be found speeding down the hills on a mountain biking trail.

Chris Karu

Development Manager

Holding a master’s degree from UBC’s School of Community and Regional Planning, Chris is a firm believer that communities are shaped by their built-form, which in turn help shape the communities. Focused on thoughtful design and excellent execution of construction, Chris is passionate about ensuring that the buildings created today are revered for decades to come. First working with GWL Realty Advisors providing high-level market research, Chris then cut his teeth with Boffo Properties learning how to design and build great homes.

When not helping shape communities, Chris is outside playing soccer, golf or training for his next triathlon.

Matt Sawchyn

Development Manager

A mechanical engineering and a recent Ivey MBA graduate, you would think Matt would only bring a technical and analytical view to the properties we undertake. But Matt is creative as well. The combination – technical and creative – helps each property reach its true purpose.

Away from the office Matt can almost always be found outdoors, trekking through the mountains on skis or getting lost in the woods on his mountain bike.

Wade Girgulis

Senior Construction Manager

Wade has always wanted to be in construction since he was young. His greatest joy is taking a project from conception to completion. He takes pride in ensuring that no detail is overlooked and his personal commitment to each unique endeavour enables him to deliver an attractive, functioning building in the most cost effective method. Wade holds a BCIT Diploma of Building Technology and has 20 years of experience in commercial, institutional, residential and industrial construction.

Al Abdduh

Senior Construction Manager

Al has over 12 years of construction experience in all aspects of Project Management and is responsible for overseeing project development specifically in the areas of design planning, estimating, budgeting & cash flow forecast, tender analysis, contract awards, project controls, scheduling, quality control monitoring and projects closeout. Never one to sacrifice quality, Al champions PC Urban’s rigorous design intent throughout the entire construction process from breaking ground to completion and post occupancy.

Doug Miller

Senior Construction Manager

Watching a vision take form is beyond exciting, it’s remarkable. Being a part of the process of having a concept, assembling a team, developing the drawings and constructing the building is what I find to be the most rewarding. Not only does every new project bring unique challenges and opportunities; they keep us constantly learning and refining our tools and techniques to reach the best possible outcome.


Outside of work, Doug enjoys travelling and spending time in the great outdoors hiking, cycling and fishing.

Martin Zhu

Senior Financial Analyst

Martin builds financial analysis models to assist in acquisitions, underwriting and project cash flow budgeting. He especially enjoys seeing deals executed, projects financed, and buildings underway.

Martin has his M.Sc. in Finance from SFU and continues working towards both his CFA and CPA designations. He is fascinated by economics and dynamic capital market outcomes. Martin’s economic modeling and devouring of big data are the keys to re-imagining in PC Urban’s ever more complex world.

Takahito Fujiwara, CPA

Senior Development Accountant

Takahito is an operationally minded accountant who believes accounting is more than just number crunching. His mandate is to design processes that provide timely access to data for better decision making.

Takahito’s motto is “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra” – a motto he has recently taken to heart as father of a baby boy.

Sean Kim

Accounting Manager

Sean is a firm believer in creating value through creativity. Being nimble in the private equity market place and re-imagining projects and processes is what he believes stands all test of time for delivering excellence.  Coupled with a passion with numbers, these are his keys to re-imagining real estate with PC Urban’s constantly changing and complex world.

Sean holds a BBA from Simon Fraser University, and is a CPA, CA. In addition to completing the CPA In-Depth Tax Course, Sean is a CFA charter holder.

Alex Vu

Development Accountant

Alex is very fascinated in the potential and the challenges of real estate industry, especially in large cities like Vancouver. As she thrives in a fast-paced environment, Alex values proactivity and persistence when it comes to problem solving. She enjoys finding ways to make her work more efficient and less time-consuming.

As an accountant, Alex believes that one should not lose their balance, literally. On the weekends, Alex can be found hiking, volunteering, or spending time with her friends.


Ruhan Yang

Junior Development Accountant

Recently graduated from UBC Sauder School of Business, Ruhan has chosen to begin her career path at PC Urban, as an accountant.  She enjoys numbers and how accounting plays such an essential role to corporate organizations. Ruhan thrives in a dynamic work environment and the learning gained from every challenge she faces. Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail, allows her to deliver quality work to support the operation of the team.


In Ruhan’s free time, you can find her trying new dishes in the kitchen, spending time with her friends or volunteering with her Scouts group.


Larissa Maion

Office Coordinator

Larissa is thrilled to be a part of the PC Urban team whose core values of revitalization and community equates to her passion of culture & history. With 3 years of office management experience, she has become a lover of wearing many hats. Larissa is drawn to the fast-paced environment, the challenges, and the constant opportunities; she brings enthusiasm and a “can-do” attitude to this new adventure in property development.

When she’s not in the office, you can find Larissa spending quality time with her family & friends or working out in a spin or Pilates class.
