Principal / CEO

Brent never has a bad day – well almost never. He thrives on the types of creative project challenges that make other people crazy. Re-imagining and communicating bold development visions is Brent’s passion, fuelled by success. For Brent, “impossible” is not a fact, merely an opinion.

Shawn Smith

Chief Financial Officer

Delivering great projects is a given.  Shawn believes that PC Urban should be best in class in all aspects of development. The goal each day is to take these strengths and incrementally work to improve all aspects of what we do as a team. These daily incremental improvements lead to large changes and learning over time.  This includes excellence in relations with investors, tenants, home buyers, suppliers, professional consultants, and employees.

Treating each of these stakeholder groups with respect, professionalism, honesty, and integrity will lead to long term growth and success for all.

Shawn also enjoys spending time with his wife, Marion, sons, Mitchell and Jeff.  They enjoy hiking, skiing, boating, and travelling.

Steve Forrest

Senior Vice President, Acquisitions and Development

Strategic envisioning, value creation and the relentless execution to achieve results are the fundamental business principles that Steve lives by every day.  He is energized by the art of the deal, endeavours to lead development teams by example and is not shy to take calculated risks, believing that real estate development takes a long game approach.


Steve has been fortunate to have worked for several successful Vancouver developers and has had numerous industry mentors that have shared their collective wealth of experiences in residential, commercial and industrial real estate asset classes.  In addition to the role of leading the residential development team, Steve looks forward to being part of the leadership group and helping to direct the future path of the organization.

In his downtime, Steve keeps busy shuttling his kids between their multi-sport activities of water polo, swimming, rugby, basketball and soccer.

Louise Tagulao

Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Communications

Louise has a passion for Urban Life. Buildings, people, community and how they can most successfully interact drive her thought process behind each project opportunity. Urban revitalization is a particular area of focus stemming from a background in history and a belief that old truly can become new again. A people connector at heart, Louise enjoys the challenging front end of planning, approvals and marketing of real estate.

When not re-imagining a neighbourhood, Louise loves to run through them while training for her next half marathon or ski high above them on our local mountains.

Brian Kozak

Development Associate

Brian Kozak joins the PC Urban Team in an advisory role as our Development Associate. Brian has wonderful real estate savvy across Western Canada in a number of asset classes and is particularly adept at simply “getting things done.” Previously, Brian was the Executive Vice President to First Capital Realty, one of the largest owners of retail shopping centres in Canada and prior to this role served as the Western Vice President, Canadian Tire Real Estate Limited. Brian has guided the acquisition and development of over $4.0b of real estate.


Natanya Funk

Director, Development

Natanya brings a multi-layered background of leading, managing and facilitating all aspects of the development life cycle of master-planned mixed use, commercial and residential projects. She is passionate about the art of development and design, while being inspired by the opportunity to re-imagine real estate, transform neighborhoods and build thriving communities.

Natanya enjoys planning with municipalities and all other stakeholders to bring high-value projects to successful approval and completion. In her leisure time, you can find her on the golf course, at the beach or boarding down the mountain with family and friends.

Antony Sulentic

Acquisitions Manager

Antony’s passion for real estate is driven by his love of chasing deals and envisioning potential new iconic projects for Vancouver’s skyline. His acquisitions experience in Metro Vancouver and across the southern USA has developed his keen eye for a deal, while his commitment to problem-solving and creative solutions helped draw him to PC Urban. Antony is excited to play a role in PC Urban’s ongoing growth and success.

Outside of work, soccer, skiing, and golf absorb most of Antony’s time.

Matt Sawchyn

Director, Acquisitions & Investments

A mechanical engineering and a recent Ivey MBA graduate, you would think Matt would only bring a technical and analytical view to the properties we undertake. But Matt is creative as well. The combination – technical and creative – helps each property reach its true purpose.

Away from the office Matt can almost always be found outdoors, trekking through the mountains on skis or getting lost in the woods on his mountain bike.

Chris Karu

Senior Development Manager

Holding a master’s degree from UBC’s School of Community and Regional Planning, Chris is a firm believer that communities are shaped by their built-form, which in turn help shape the communities. Focused on thoughtful design and excellent execution of construction, Chris is passionate about ensuring that the buildings created today are revered for decades to come. First working with GWL Realty Advisors providing high-level market research, Chris then cut his teeth with Boffo Properties learning how to design and build great homes.

When not helping shape communities, Chris is outside playing soccer, golf or training for his next triathlon.

Spencer Purdy

Senior Development Manager

As a registered Architect with the AIBC, Spencer came to the development world through an architecture background. After graduating from USC, he spent time in New York before settling in Vancouver at IBI Group. With a strong desire to become involved in all aspects of real estate from acquisition and entitlement to design and construction, Spencer has made the move into development.

He is particularly interested in projects that blur the line between the public and private realms, creating meaningful spaces within cities.

When not in the office, Spencer pursues his passion for art and travel which in turn influence the projects he works on.

John Reid

Senior Development Manager

John has been interested in city building from a young age.  He has a passion for creating spaces where people can live, work and play in our communities.  Not afraid to get into the details of the planning process, with a Masters in Urban Planning from LSE, John also enjoys strategically reviewing new acquisitions, and envisioning new developments.

On the weekends, John enjoys time in the mountains skiing, biking and hiking.

Jacob Woeller

New to the development side of real estate, Jacob is thrilled for the opportunity to help build better communities for the future.

Derek Bennett

Development Coodinator

Derek has always has an appreciation for the built environment and believes in the therapeutic power of well-designed and beautiful spaces. Currently completing his MBA at SFU Beedie School of Business, Derek brings an analytic and thoughtful approach to his work. Having spent his formative career in the forest products sector, Derek is excited to launch his new career trajectory in real estate at PC Urban.

An avid golfer, skier, and tennis player, you can also find Derek hiking the trails of BC while away from the office.

Wade Girgulis

Senior Construction Manager

Wade has always wanted to be in construction since he was young. His greatest joy is taking a project from conception to completion. He takes pride in ensuring that no detail is overlooked and his personal commitment to each unique endeavour enables him to deliver an attractive, functioning building in the most cost effective method. Wade holds a BCIT Diploma of Building Technology and has 20 years of experience in commercial, institutional, residential and industrial construction.

Al Abdduh

Senior Construction Manager

Al has over 12 years of construction experience in all aspects of Project Management and is responsible for overseeing project development specifically in the areas of design planning, estimating, budgeting & cash flow forecast, tender analysis, contract awards, project controls, scheduling, quality control monitoring and projects closeout. Never one to sacrifice quality, Al champions PC Urban’s rigorous design intent throughout the entire construction process from breaking ground to completion and post occupancy.

Doug Miller

Senior Construction Manager

Watching a vision take form is beyond exciting, it’s remarkable. Being a part of the process of having a concept, assembling a team, developing the drawings and constructing the building is what I find to be the most rewarding. Not only does every new project bring unique challenges and opportunities; they keep us constantly learning and refining our tools and techniques to reach the best possible outcome.

Italo Lima

Construction Coordinator

As a third generation civil engineer, Italo was brought up in the construction world from an early age. In 2017 he immigrated to Canada fro Brazil as a licensed P.Eng to pursue a post graduate designation in Project Management at BCIT. After graduation from BCIT he started working on Vancouver Island as a project coordinator and from there completed many multi-family buildings across Western Canada.

Italo brings the skills , knowledge, and experience necessary to ensure PC Urban projects exceed expectation and that they are completed on schedule and on budget.

When not looking at detailed construction drawings, you can find Italo hitting one of the many BC slopes, hiking local trails or cycling around the city.

Ryan Bates


Born and raised in Vancouver, Ryan has seen the tremendous impact that the real estate industry has had on the local economy. With a grandfather who worked in construction on Expo 86, the real estate industry has always been a part of his life.

Spanning over 14 years, Ryan’s diversified background in accounting through public practice, mining and real estate has brought him full circle to the industry he is most passionate about. A firm believer in people and culture, Ryan takes great pride in being a part of the PC Urban team and contributing in any way he can.

When not working, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, practicing yoga and playing soccer.

Jian Gu, CPA

Assistant Controller

Jian joined the PC Urban team in June 2021 and brings ten years of real estate industry experience to the Finance and Accounting group. Jian’s expertise in financial reporting and analysis coupled with his attention to detail and analytical nature, makes him an excellent addition to the PC Urban team.

Jian holds a Master of Business Administration degree and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC).

Martin Zhu

Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis

Martin builds financial analysis models to assist in acquisitions, underwriting and project cash flow budgeting. He especially enjoys seeing deals executed, projects financed, and buildings underway.

Martin has his M.Sc. in Finance from SFU and continues working towards both his CFA and CPA designations. He is fascinated by economics and dynamic capital market outcomes. Martin’s economic modeling and devouring of big data are the keys to re-imagining in PC Urban’s ever more complex world.

Takahito Fujiwara, CPA

Senior Development Accountant

Takahito is an operationally minded accountant who believes accounting is more than just number crunching. His mandate is to design processes that provide timely access to data for better decision making.

Takahito’s motto is “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra” – a motto he has recently taken to heart as father of a baby boy.

Emily Xu

Senior Development Accountant

Starting from a place of curiosity, Emily has become enthusiastic about the city landscape changing over the years. She has years of accounting experience specializing in the real estate construction and development industry. Her detail oriented and problem-solving personality brings her recognition from colleagues. Emily stays current in up-to-date accounting practices, and looks forward to expanding her knowledge horizon with the growth PC Urban.

Emily is energetic. After work, she can be seen studying in the libraries, biking on the local trails, or playing games with her children.

Lisa Chan

Development Accountant

Lisa joins the team as a Development Accountant, two years after entering the corporate world of accounting. She brings experience and knowledge of full-cycle accounting and believes that accounting is an integrate part of a development team and can be fun. In Lisa’s view, accounting is a highly cross-functional division of the company that facilities strong decision-making and problem solution and is acutely aware that these impact a greater community where is pertains to the real estate industry

Lisa brings the right skills and attitude to the PC Urban team, and hopes to make a positive impact on the communities where we work and to gain further experience while she works towards her CPA designation.

Senior Sales and Marketing Coordinator

With a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Advertising, Anna brings a keen eye for design, a strategic mindset, and a passion for the real estate industry.

Her challenge-seeking personality strives in the intricate development environment, where Anna applies her creative ideas and analytical thinking to navigate all aspects of sales and marketing.

Experienced in industrial and commercial real estate, Anna enjoys participating in the full project lifecycle working side-by-side with the construction and development team.

Micaele Johnson

Office Coordinator

Micaele’s interest in real estate has grown through her experiences within several organizations, supporting their administrative teams. Her experience working at Henderson Developments, CBRE and most recently Kasian Architecture, not only expanded her knowledge of the different aspects of the industry but made her a perfect candidate as PC Urban’s newest Office Coordinator.

Currently, Micaele is completing various business, marketing and technical studies at BCIT to enhance her knowledge and skill sets. She looks forward to putting these new skills to use right away in her new role.

As a result of having reach her goal of running 10k, Micaele loves to get outside for a run on the sea wall. She enjoys taking in a show at the Vancouver International Film Festival or enjoying a coffee on Granville Island.
